Both Jonah Lehrer and Mark Boslough argue the benefits regarding the investments made into the research of science and the arts. In” The future of science is …..Art?” by Jonah Lehrer, Lehrer shows multiple reasons why it is important to start integrating art and science together in school now more than ever. According to Lehrer it is important that “every theoretical physics department should support an artist-in-residence. Too often, modern physics seems remote and irrelevant… The arts can help us reattach physics to the world we experience.” He brings up a great point, why not? If incorporating arts in the science helps keep it fresh and new why don’t we do it? On the other hand, Boslough argues that research spending money on science is like putting money in the bank. Boslough is a big believer in investing in the sciences. He argues that science “has swollen with the advances we associate with modern living, with medical discoveries that have given us longer, healthier and happier lives.” Art has done so much for us we cannot stop putting money into now. If we stop doing this we may miss out on great opportunities we never get to discover. Both writers bring up important points and for the future we should focus on incorporating art into the study of sciences but we should not stop investing into the sciences themselves.
