Learning Outcome #2

Over the course of the semester we have had plenty of opportunities to integrate quotes into our essays to help voice our opinions. When I wrote my first draft for my first paper I was nervous about the quotes I used and if I Introduced them the right way. After reading the quote section in They Say I Say it it helped me introduce and blend quotes more easily. An example from my Final draft from my second essay where I think I introduced and analyzed the quote effectively is:

Ma delves deeper into the reasoning as to why he believes art should be implemented in school systems when he states, “ to be able to put oneself in another’s shoes without prejudgement is an essential skill. Empathy comes when you understand something deeply through arts and literature and can thus make unexpected connections.”  It is especially important in today’s society to be able to reflect on oneself and not judge one another on the first encounter. To be able to stand out in my career, I will need to learn how to be creative and learn to collaborate. If school systems teach this, my employers will know that I have a good background in arts that will further help me make decisions in my future career. School systems should implement arts because its core values are to teach individuals to understand different cultures, evoke creativity, teach individuals to think outside the box as well as collaborate easier.”

This compared to my earlier on writing is on a whole different level. I credit it too all the workshops in class where we worked with developing analysis and reading through They Say I Say.
