The way stem is taught now is the best strategy and no changes need to be made to improve this. Currently students in today’s schools are taught all about the sciences, maths and about engineering. If we start adding art into these core curricular courses it will throw off the balance we have created over the years. Yet is it necessarily true that adding arts would create an imbalance? Prominent musician Yo-Yo Ma says “For me the most proficient way to teach the values of collaboration, flexibility, imagination and innovation…is through the performing arts.” Although the arts may teach us those things specifically teaching art along with math and science is not worthwhile and prove to be pointless.

  1. You have really good ideas in your paragraph. I would say to try and find some information form the text to support your point more to make it stronger. I like how you mention the idea of imbalance since Yo Yo Ma believed so strongly in that and needed to add art.

  2. I like the way you incorporated the quote by Yo-Yo Ma. It was a little confusing how you said that adding arts would throw off the balance, and then the next sentence questions the same statement. I would also maybe explain more about why the arts are not worthwhile and pointless.
